YI Cloud Service Introduction

YI Cloud Service is able to provide 24-hour, around-the-clock motion detection with the support of Aliyun’s experience in cyber security. Encrypted and uploaded to cloud to avoid human tampering or simply video loss due to damage of the local memory drive. YI Home Camera 2 1080p furthers the detection experience by providing Customer Walk-in Analysis in order to help store owners make more informed decisions and in turn provide more tailored experience and better products for their customers.

Is it safe to have videos stored in YI Cloud Service?

Videos taken by YI Home Camera is encrypted before being uploaded to YI Cloud. The encryption key is changed and updated periodically to give users highest scale of protection. Furthermore, the underlying infrastructure is fully developed in-house so that you know your data is in good hands and well protected. With our technology, not only can you rest assured the security, you can also expect quick turnaround time for data restore in the most stable environment. The video will be encrypted to store on North American cloud sever.

What are the minimum bandwidth required per camera to use YI cloud service (storage)?

Uploading video to the cloud requires upstream bandwidth for different device types and resolutions. Here is a reference table for the bandwidth requirement:

Please ensure your network met the above requirements and if necessary adjust the resolution accordingly in order to stay within upstream limit. Poor network conditions may cause the video upload to fail.

What is loop recording?

Loop recording is a function that will overwrite previously recorded video sequentially on a cycle. For example, say if you sign up for 15-day loop recording subscription, on the 16th day, the recording will wipe out the ones taken from your first day and start from there. 17th day wipes out the 2nd day and so forth. Currently, we support two loop recording plans: 15-day and 30-day loop recording.

How do I subscribe to YI Cloud Service?

You can easily subscribe to YI Cloud Service through YI Home app. Please open your YI Home app, select the device you wish to activate YI Cloud Service for. Then navigate to “Live -> Settings -> My YI Cloud” and select “Subscribe to YI Cloud Service” to make your purchase.

Is free trial available for YI Cloud Service?

Yes, you get your first month free trial on 15-day loop recording. Please note you will be charged automatically after free trial expires. You're welcome to cancel your free trial anytime with absolutely $0 charge.

When I successfully subscribe to YI Cloud Service, when can I expect to be charged?

Once you successfully make your subscription, YI Cloud Service is immediately enabled and you will be charged the following day. For example, you sign up for 15-day loop recording service for one year on 9/1/2016, we will charge you according to your payment choice on 9/2/2016.

How do you calculate valid service time after a purchase is made for YI Cloud Service?

We hope that you can start enjoying our service as early as possible, so YI Cloud Service is enabled right away once you successfully make a purchase. If there is no active subscription, subscription start day is 00:00 of the next day. For example, if you sign up for the 15-day loop recording subscription on 9/1/2016, the subscription start date is then 9/2/2016 00:00.

How do I cancel the subscription?

You can cancel the subscription anytime by navigating to "My YI Cloud -> Subscription management ", selecting "Subscribed " and clicking "Cancel subscription". Cancelling during free trial will stop the service immediately and no video will be uploaded to cloud any longer. Canceling during active subscription period will not stop the service right away, instead the service will stop once current subscription period is expired.

How do you extend subscription to YI Cloud Service?

You will be charged automatically if you have not cancelled the subscription before it expires. You don't need to take any extra steps to extend the subscription. The subscription will automatically extends itself according to the subscription plan you previously signed up for. We will notify you by email before we charge you, when the payment is successfully processed or when it failed. Please note your subscription will be automatically cancelled if the account you chose does not have sufficient amount of money when we charge you.

Can I ask for refund or change subscription plan when my current subscription is still active?

Unfortunately, we do not accept refund while your subscription is still active. If you wish to change your subscription plan, please cancel your current subscription and select a new one. For example, if you wish to upgrade your 15-day subscription to 30-day subscription, please cancel your 15-day subscription, then purchase 30-day subscription. Make sure you save all your videos from cloud before you cancel your subscription. Fail to do so may result in loss of previously recorded videos.

Can I still see the videos once my YI Cloud Service is expired?

Any new videos taken after the subscription is expired will not be uploaded to the cloud. The videos that are already in the cloud will be deleted based on the duration you chose for the loop recording. For example, if you signed up for a 15-day loop recording subscription, once the subscription expires, any videos taken from your first day (out of 15 days) you started your subscription will be deleted one day after your subscription expiration date.

How do I manage my subscription?

There are 2 ways to view subscription details, add, remove, reassign devices from/to and between subscription plans:

a) Open APP, Click a device->Settings->My YI Cloud -> Subscription Management

b) Open APP, Click Profile ->Cloud storage-> Subscription Management

Can I delete or download video from the cloud?

Yes, you can delete or download any video from the cloud by selecting "Delete" or "Download" and pick the videos you wish to delete or download.

If I unbind the device and bind it with another account, can I still see videos that were taken before?

Please note that videos do not get carried over to different account. Therefore once you unbind the device from your original account and bind with a new account, you can no longer see videos taken previously under the original account. For example, if User A purchases YI Cloud Service with his/her account then unbinds the device later on from the account, User B can then binds with the same device however User B will not be able to see any videos taken under User A's account. User B needs to purchase YI Cloud Service separately in order to enable the service under his/her account. User A after unbinding can still see the videos uploaded previously by navigating to "My YI Cloud" and selecting the right device.

When I disable Video Upload Service, can I continue to use Customer Walk-in Analysis?

No, when Video Upload Service is disabled, Customer Walk-in Analysis is automatically disabled as well until you enable your service again.

What happens if I have subscribed to YI Cloud Service, but my balance is not enough for payment?

Subscription will be extended automatically, however if it turns out you have a low balance that is not sufficient for the payment, your subscription will be cancelled and you need to start a new subscription again.
